Sri Neem Karoli Baba

is one of the great saints of India. He lived and served the people in the last century.
For many, Baba is an embodiment of Lord Hanuman, the selfless servant of God – Sri Ram.
Ma met Baba in India in 1973.

All flows from You
and back into You.

— Words spoken by Ma
to Sri Neem Karoli Baba

I don’t want anything. I exist only to serve others.

— Sri Neem Karoli Baba

Baba established temples in many parts of India, most of them dedicated to Hanuman, for Baba worshipped Lord Hanuman, who embodies perfect devotion to God.

For most of His life, Baba was always on the move. Wherever He went, Baba visited His devotees at home - sometimes for hours, sometimes for days - and usually left suddenly. Often, no one knew exactly where to find Him, one had to go in search of Him, so to speak, and follow His footsteps, in the truest sense of the word.

are as many and varied as the people who recount their experiences with Him.

Many devotees describe the boundless love that He gave them and speak of the liveliness that these moments still have for them to this day.

The encounters with Baba are beautifully portrayed in Ram Dass’ book Miracle of Love – Stories about Sri Neem Karoli Baba:

We came with our varying hues of cynicism and faith, open or closed heartedness, sensuality or asceticism, intellectual arrogance or humility.

To each, Maharajji responded uniquely: Now fiercely, now tenderly; now through ignoring us or sending us away, now through making much over us; now through reading the mind and heart; now through playing dumb. He did what was necessary to quiet the mind and open the heart so that the thirst that had drawn us all to him could be slaked.

— Ram Dass, Miracle of Love

All religions are the same, they all lead to God. God is everybody. The same blood flows through us all, the arms, the legs, the heart, all are the same.

See no difference, see all the same.

— Sri Neem Karoli Baba

Ma's meeting with Baba

Sri Neem Karoli Baba with Dada Mukherjee, behind Baba in the door to His
Baba being held by Dada, Ma behind Baba in the door – *Kainchi 1973*

Ma met Baba in March 1973 in His Ashram in Vrindavan and stayed with Him until He left His body the same year, on September 11.

Time and again, during Darshan, Ma speaks about how meeting Baba gave her life a completely new direction.

In that simple and loving way of being with us, who at that time were granted to come to Him, Baba placed a seed in my heart. From that very seed, my love for Him was to grow.

I was amazed that He was doing even that for us - He planted the seed in our hearts from which our love for Him, our Guru, would eventually grow like a tree.
